LibreAte Community Guidelines
Effective date: 12 October 2026
These Guidelines explain what we expect from everyone using LibreAte, in plain language. They work alongside our Terms of Service — this document explains the spirit of the rules; the Terms set out the legal detail.
LibreAte is for adults aged 18 and over.
Why this matters
LibreAte exists because people with food allergies need to trust what other people tell them. When someone reads a review here, they might be deciding whether it's safe to eat somewhere — sometimes with real health consequences if the information is wrong. That's a different, higher bar than a typical restaurant review app, and these guidelines reflect that.
What makes a good review
Be specific about the actual dish, not just the restaurant in general — "the grilled salmon" is more useful than "the food."
Only report what you actually know. If staff didn't explicitly confirm something was safe, say that, rather than presenting a guess as a fact.
Mention if your experience might be dated — menus, recipes, and kitchen practices change over time, even at the same restaurant.
If you had a reaction, say so clearly. That single piece of information can protect the next person with your allergy.
When in doubt, leave it out. An incomplete review is far better than a confidently wrong one.
What's not allowed
In short: don't post anything you're not confident is true, and don't misuse the platform. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Specifically:
Posting false, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate allergy or safety information.
Harassment, hate speech, or targeting other users.
Impersonating another person or business, including falsely claiming ownership of a business listing.
Posting content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
Attempting to interfere with or gain unauthorised access to the app or its systems.
This list mirrors section 4.3 of our Terms of Service, which sets out the full legal basis for content removal and account action.
For business owners
If you've claimed your business listing, a few extra expectations apply:
Respond to reviews honestly, even critical ones.
Don't pressure reviewers to remove genuine reviews, positive or negative.
Don't misrepresent your own allergy-safety practices — remember, this information may directly affect someone's health.
Reporting something
If you come across a review, comment or user that seems wrong, unsafe, or against these guidelines, tap Report in that review or comment's menu. You can also email support@libreateapp.com — include a link or enough detail for us to find it. We review every report.
You can also block another user from the same menu. Their reviews and comments are then hidden from you, and you can unblock them at any time under App Settings > Privacy.
What happens if guidelines aren't followed
Objectionable content and abusive behaviour are removed, and the account responsible is closed. For other issues, depending on the situation, this can include removing the content in question, a warning, or suspending or terminating the account responsible — particularly for repeated issues or anything posted in bad faith. Our Terms of Service, section 4.3, sets out our full legal rights here.
